 2016 Preview 


       With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 3A region 3, the Cougars earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Central Coosa's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to T.R. Miller by a score of 67-16.  The 328 points scored by the Cougars last year were a team record in a single season.

       Since 2010, Central Coosa has gone a combined 14-47. Their 23.0% winning percentage ranks 50th in Class 3A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Central Coosa has not won much with a record of 71-183. Their 28.0% winning percentage ranks 56th in Class 3A and 355th in the AHSAA.

       The Cougars are led by head coach Barry Simmons who is entering his first season at the helm. His team finished with a 5-6 record in his first season at Central Coosa. Under his direction the Cougars have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Simmons.

       Coach Simmons's overall record as a head football coach in one seasons stands at 5-6 (45.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Simmons's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

      

      The Central Coosa Cougars will play in Class 3A region 3 during the 2016 season.

      

       The Cougars open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Catholic Montgomery on Friday, August 19 at Catholic Field. Last year the Catholic Montgomery Knights finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in fifth place in Class 4A region 2. The closed out the regular season with a loss to OPEN by a score of 999-999.

       Central Coosa and Catholic Montgomery have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Cougars have a 0-2-0 record against the Knights. They last met in 2016 with Catholic Montgomery winning by a score of 50-28.
